About Tiro Gurmukhi
Tiro Gurmukhi brings back something modern Punjabi type lost: the stroke modulation of traditional Gurmukhi manuscripts, which the monolinear types of the twentieth century replaced. John Hudson and Fiona Ross designed it for the Murty Classical Library of India.
The contrast gives text a traditional flavour that still feels fresh, and the release adds an italic adapted by Paul Hanslow, plus a Latin set with diacritics for transliteration.
It shines in literature, poetry, historical texts and anywhere Punjabi deserves a bookish voice. For interfaces, Mukta Mahee is the plainer alternative.
