FontDrop converts plain text into 99 styled variants that can be pasted anywhere plain text is accepted — a profile bio, a username, a chat message, a document title.
It is character substitution, not typography
Despite the name, no font is involved. Unicode contains alphabets that already look bold, italic, script or enclosed, because they were encoded for mathematics and for scripts with different typesetting conventions. A style here swaps each of your letters for its counterpart in one of those ranges.
Because the styling lives in the characters themselves rather than in formatting metadata, it survives being copied between apps. That is the whole appeal — and also the source of every limitation below.
When not to use it
Screen readers often announce these characters one at a time, or skip them entirely, so styled text is a poor fit for anything that carries essential meaning. Search behaves the same way: a bio written in script characters will not match a search for the plain spelling. Some platforms also reject or strip heavily decorated text, particularly stacked combining marks.
Use it for short, decorative text where the look matters more than the machine-readability — and keep your name, contact details and anything people need to find in ordinary letters.
Privacy
Every conversion runs in your browser. Your text is never uploaded, logged or stored. Saved styles live in your own browser storage and never leave your device.
