About Shrikhand

Shrikhand is named after a sweet, creamy Gujarati dessert, and it is just as rich. Jonny Pinhorn drew it after years in Ahmedabad absorbing the hand-painted lettering on Gujarat's streets — big, bold and unapologetically curvy.

The result is a heavy display face for Gujarati and Latin, with swelling strokes that give it a joyful, festive energy. It is ideal for posters, restaurant and food branding, and wedding and festival graphics.

One weight, display only: keep it large and short, and pair it with a quiet text face such as Hind Vadodara.

Licence

Shrikhand is released under the SIL Open Font License 1.1, which permits use in personal and commercial work. Read the licence before redistributing the files or selling them on.

Installing it

Windows.
Right-click the downloaded file and choose Install, or drop it into Settings → Personalisation → Fonts.
macOS.
Double-click the file and press Install Font in Font Book.
On the web.
Self-host the WOFF2 and declare it with an @font-face rule rather than linking to this page.
Gujarati text.
Gujarati needs a text engine that forms conjuncts. Word and current browsers handle it. In Photoshop, switch to the Middle Eastern and South Asian text engine under Preferences → Type.
