About Rasa

Rasa is a text typeface for long reading on screen — articles, magazines, blogs — in Gujarati and Latin. It is a deliberate remix: the Latin grew out of Eben Sorkin's Merriweather and the Gujarati out of David Březina's Skolar Gujarati, both reworked by Rosetta to sit together.

It supports a wide range of Gujarati conjuncts, and its sturdy serifs keep text readable at small sizes. It comes with a matching italic, each a variable font from Light to Bold.

Choose it for editorial and literary Gujarati. For interface text Hind Vadodara is plainer; for headlines with personality, Shrikhand.

Licence

Rasa is released under the SIL Open Font License 1.1, which permits use in personal and commercial work. Read the licence before redistributing the files or selling them on.

Installing it

Windows.
Right-click the downloaded file and choose Install, or drop it into Settings → Personalisation → Fonts.
macOS.
Double-click the file and press Install Font in Font Book.
On the web.
Self-host the WOFF2 and declare it with an @font-face rule rather than linking to this page.
Gujarati text.
Gujarati needs a text engine that forms conjuncts. Word and current browsers handle it. In Photoshop, switch to the Middle Eastern and South Asian text engine under Preferences → Type.
