About Nanum Gothic

Nanum Gothic is one of the most widely used Korean fonts, part of the Nanum family that Naver commissioned from Sandoll Communications and Fontrix and released for free. It is a contemporary sans-serif — a Dotum, in Korean terms — with a warm touch and careful hinting for screens.

It covers all 11,172 modern Hangul syllables, so even rare syllables in names render properly, and it comes in Regular, Bold and Extra Bold.

It is a dependable default for Korean websites, apps, documents and presentations. For a serif companion, the same family includes Nanum Myeongjo.

Licence

Nanum Gothic is released under the SIL Open Font License 1.1, which permits use in personal and commercial work. Read the licence before redistributing the files or selling them on.

Installing it

Windows.
Right-click the downloaded file and choose Install, or drop it into Settings → Personalisation → Fonts.
macOS.
Double-click the file and press Install Font in Font Book.
On the web.
Self-host the WOFF2 and declare it with an @font-face rule rather than linking to this page.
Korean text.
Korean fonts are large because every syllable is a separate glyph. On a website, subset the font to the characters you use, and mark the text lang="ko".
