About Mandali

Mandali is a Telugu text face developed for newspapers, with an unusually large set of Telugu conjunct forms. It is named after Mandali Venkata Krishna Rao, who organised the first World Telugu Conference in 1975.

The Telugu was designed by Purushoth Kumar Guttula in 2013 and released by Silicon Andhra; its Latin comes from Vernon Adams's rounded Nunito, which matches the soft curves of the Telugu letters.

It is a dependable choice for Telugu articles, news sites and documents. Telugu stacks consonants below the line, so leave more line height than you would for English.

Licence

Mandali is released under the SIL Open Font License 1.1, which permits use in personal and commercial work. Read the licence before redistributing the files or selling them on.

Self-host the WOFF2 and declare it with an @font-face rule rather than linking to this page.
Telugu text.
Telugu needs a text engine that stacks consonant clusters. Word and current browsers handle it. In Photoshop, switch to the Middle Eastern and South Asian text engine under Preferences → Type.
