About Hind Vadodara
Hind Vadodara is the Gujarati family in the Indian Type Foundry's Hind system, named after the city of Vadodara. Built for user interfaces, it shares Hind's humanist skeleton, near-monolinear strokes and flat terminals, so Gujarati stays crisp at small sizes on screen.
Five weights, from Light to Bold, cover body text through to headings, and the Latin is drawn to match.
Choose it for Gujarati apps, websites and documents, especially where the page also carries Hindi or English set in another Hind family.
Licence
Hind Vadodara is released under the SIL Open Font License 1.1, which permits use in personal and commercial work. Read the licence before redistributing the files or selling them on.
Installing it
- Windows.
- Right-click the downloaded file and choose Install, or drop it into Settings → Personalisation → Fonts.
- macOS.
- Double-click the file and press Install Font in Font Book.
- On the web.
- Self-host the WOFF2 and declare it with an
@font-facerule rather than linking to this page. - Gujarati text.
- Gujarati needs a text engine that forms conjuncts. Word and current browsers handle it. In Photoshop, switch to the Middle Eastern and South Asian text engine under Preferences → Type.
