About Hind Guntur

Hind Guntur is the Telugu family in the Indian Type Foundry's Hind system, named after the city of Guntur. Like its siblings it was built for user interfaces, with a humanist skeleton, near-monolinear strokes and open counters that stay clear at small sizes.

It comes in five weights from Light to Bold, with Latin drawn to match, so Telugu and English can share a line without clashing.

Choose it for Telugu apps, websites and on-screen documents, and combine it with the other Hind families when a product spans several Indian languages.

Licence

Hind Guntur is released under the SIL Open Font License 1.1, which permits use in personal and commercial work. Read the licence before redistributing the files or selling them on.

Installing it

Windows.
Right-click the downloaded file and choose Install, or drop it into Settings → Personalisation → Fonts.
macOS.
Double-click the file and press Install Font in Font Book.
On the web.
Self-host the WOFF2 and declare it with an @font-face rule rather than linking to this page.
Telugu text.
Telugu needs a text engine that stacks consonant clusters. Word and current browsers handle it. In Photoshop, switch to the Middle Eastern and South Asian text engine under Preferences → Type.
