About Baloo Tamma 2
Baloo Tamma 2 is the Kannada member of Ek Type's Baloo family, a round, warm display face available in nine Indian scripts and Arabic. Tamma means younger brother in Kannada, and the family's playful, chunky shapes live up to the name.
It is a natural fit for children's books, snack and café branding, festival posters and friendly app headings in Kannada.
It runs from Regular to Extra Bold in one variable file: the lighter end works for short paragraphs, the heavier end for headlines.
Licence
Baloo Tamma 2 is released under the SIL Open Font License 1.1, which permits use in personal and commercial work. Read the licence before redistributing the files or selling them on.
Installing it
- Windows.
- Right-click the downloaded file and choose Install, or drop it into Settings → Personalisation → Fonts.
- macOS.
- Double-click the file and press Install Font in Font Book.
- On the web.
- Self-host the WOFF2 and declare it with an
@font-facerule rather than linking to this page. - Kannada text.
- Kannada needs a text engine that stacks consonant clusters. Word and current browsers handle it. In Photoshop, switch to the Middle Eastern and South Asian text engine under Preferences → Type.
