About Quicksand
Quicksand is a rounded display sans that Andrew Paglinawan began in 2008 with geometric shapes as its foundation. Thomas Jockin thoroughly revised it in 2016, and it became a variable font in 2019, running from Light to Bold.
The round terminals and open forms give it a light, friendly, contemporary feel, popular with wellness, lifestyle and children's brands. Although built for display, it stays legible at smaller sizes, and it supports Vietnamese.
Use it for logos, headings, invitations and app interfaces with a soft touch. For long reading, pair it with a sturdier text face.
Licence
Quicksand is released under the SIL Open Font License 1.1, which permits use in personal and commercial work. Read the licence before redistributing the files or selling them on.
Installing it
- Windows.
- Right-click the downloaded file and choose Install, or drop it into Settings → Personalisation → Fonts.
- macOS.
- Double-click the file and press Install Font in Font Book.
- On the web.
- Self-host the WOFF2 and declare it with an
@font-facerule rather than linking to this page.
