Oswald

Oswald is a condensed gothic sans in the lineage of Alternate Gothic — the narrow, tall, tightly-fitted faces that filled American newspaper headlines and poster work for most of the twentieth century. Vernon Adams reworked those proportions for screen rendering, and Kalapi Gajjar and Cyreal later extended it.

The condensed width is the entire value proposition: you can set a long headline at a large size without it wrapping. That makes it a staple for news sites, sports graphics, video titles and any layout where the headline is long and the column is not wide.

Give it extra letter-spacing if you use it small, and do not ask it to carry body copy — condensed faces tire the eye quickly over more than a line or two.
