Monoton

Monoton is an inline display face — each stroke is drawn as multiple parallel lines rather than a solid mass, so the letters read as outlined tubes. Vernon Adams drew it in the tradition of neon signage and 1970s record sleeves.

Set large, that inline structure does the work of an effect without needing one: it looks like lit tubing, which is why it turns up on retro posters, music artwork, bar signage and anything reaching for disco or synthwave. It is all-caps and tightly fitted.

The inline is also its limit. Below roughly 40px the parallel strokes merge into a smudge, and at any size it will not tolerate a second decorative face in the same layout.
