About Manjari
Manjari is a Malayalam and Latin family from Swathanthra Malayalam Computing, the volunteer group behind many of the free Malayalam fonts in use today. Its name means pearl in Malayalam, and is also the name of a poetic metre.
The letters are rounded and even, with smooth curves that keep Malayalam's dense conjuncts readable both in body text and in titles. It comes in Thin, Regular and Bold.
It is a solid everyday choice for Malayalam websites, documents and apps, and the Thin weight makes elegant large headings.
Licence
Manjari is released under the SIL Open Font License 1.1, which permits use in personal and commercial work. Read the licence before redistributing the files or selling them on.
Installing it
- Windows.
- Right-click the downloaded file and choose Install, or drop it into Settings → Personalisation → Fonts.
- macOS.
- Double-click the file and press Install Font in Font Book.
- On the web.
- Self-host the WOFF2 and declare it with an
@font-facerule rather than linking to this page. - Malayalam text.
- Malayalam needs a text engine that forms conjuncts. Word and current browsers handle it. In Photoshop, switch to the Middle Eastern and South Asian text engine under Preferences → Type.
