JetBrains Mono

JetBrains Mono was drawn for reading code, and the decisions show. The letterforms are taller than most monospaced faces relative to their width, which means more of each glyph sits in the part of the line your eye actually scans. Character shapes that usually collide in code — 1, l and I, or 0 and O — are pulled deliberately apart.

It ships with a large set of programming ligatures, so sequences like != and => render as single marks. Some people find this clearer, others find it dishonest about what is actually in the file; most editors let you switch it off.

Beyond the editor it makes a decent face for technical documentation, terminal output in screenshots, and anywhere you want text to read as machine-adjacent without resorting to Courier.
