Cormorant Garamond

Cormorant Garamond is Christian Thalmann's take on Claude Garamond's sixteenth-century romans, redrawn with far more stroke contrast than a working text Garamond would carry. The thin strokes get thinner and the serifs get sharper, which makes it an unusually delicate face for one derived from a workhorse.

That contrast is the whole character and also the constraint. Set large, it is genuinely elegant — invitations, editorial headlines, book covers, anything wanting the authority of an old-style serif without the heaviness. Set small, the hairlines start disappearing, especially on low-density screens.

Treat it as a display serif. Use Lora or Merriweather underneath it for anything anyone has to actually read.
