Bungee

Bungee was drawn by David Jonathan Ross for signage, and specifically for signage that has to work vertically. American shopfront lettering often stacks letters down a narrow sign, and most typefaces handle that badly because their sidebearings assume horizontal setting. Bungee is designed to be stacked.

The forms are compact, squarish capitals with heavy strokes and tight apertures — the same logic that makes painted shop signs readable from across a street. It works horizontally too, but the vertical case is where it earns its keep: menu boards, side banners, a name running down the edge of a poster.

It is display-only. The full family includes layered chromatic versions for multi-colour signage effects; the file here is the standard weight.
