About Bebas Neue

Bebas Neue is an all-caps condensed sans by Ryoichi Tsunekawa. There is no lowercase — typing in lowercase gives you small capitals — and that constraint is the point. It was built to stack into tight, loud headlines that fill their measure.

The narrow width means you can set a long headline at a large size without it wrapping, which is why it turns up constantly in posters, sports graphics, YouTube thumbnails and title cards. Give it generous letter-spacing at small sizes; the default fit is tuned for display use and gets cramped when you shrink it.

Because it only has one weight, it cannot carry a hierarchy on its own. Pair it with a family that has a real weight range for anything below the headline.
