About Bangers
Bangers is comic-book lettering set in type. Vernon Adams drew it with the heavy, slightly irregular capitals that American comics used for sound effects and exclamations, and the result carries that energy into anything you set with it.
It is an all-caps face — lowercase letters produce a second set of capitals — and it is built for one thing: short, loud text at large sizes. Headlines, sound effects, YouTube thumbnails, event flyers. The letterforms are tightly fitted and slightly uneven on the baseline, which reads as hand-drawn at 60px and as a mistake at 14px.
Do not set more than a few words in it. Pair it with a plain sans for everything that is not the shout.
Licence
Bangers is released under the SIL Open Font License 1.1, which permits use in personal and commercial work. Read the licence before redistributing the files or selling them on.
Installing it
- Windows.
- Right-click the downloaded file and choose Install, or drop it into Settings → Personalisation → Fonts.
- macOS.
- Double-click the file and press Install Font in Font Book.
- On the web.
- Self-host the WOFF2 and declare it with an
@font-facerule rather than linking to this page.
